Beaufort County VINELink Coverage
NC SAVAN is the North Carolina Statewide Automated Victim Assistance and Notification system. The state Department of Adult Correction runs it. Custody notifications are free and confidential. The program's FAQ says the network links electronically to every North Carolina jail and to Adult Corrections, prisons and community supervision included. That all-jails statement points to the Beaufort County Detention Center as part of the feed. The county jail belongs by inference, not by a separate technical page. It tracks county-jail inmates, state prisoners, probationers, and parolees. It is not a booking-photo database. It is no court file. The official NC SAVAN page names the statewide custody-notification service.

The state page shows the program itself, not a gallery of arrestees.
Check a Beaufort Arrest on VINELink
To check a known person, open the North Carolina VINELink search. The form is dynamic. Field labels can shift as the interface updates. The FAQ supports both web and phone checks, so enter the exact name or offender identifier the live form offers, and compare several details when multiple matches come back.
- Open VINELink and select North Carolina.
- Select Beaufort County if the current screen offers a county filter.
- Enter the exact name or known identifier, checking spelling and hyphenation.
- Compare matches with available age, facility, or identifying details.
- Read the selected record as the system’s current status report.
- If no match appears, check the sheriff app and call the jail.
A blank result can mean several things. The booking may not have reached the state network yet. Some bond out at the magistrate without a booking. Police holding also falls outside SAVAN. The service answers one question, custody status, and never replaces the original booking record or the court disposition. For a fresh event, the Beaufort County 24 Hour Arrests chain leads through the official app and the sheriff's phone.
What Beaufort VINELink Status Shows
VINELink reports a custody status, nothing more. Fields on screen vary by facility, and the service does not mirror the Beaufort County sheriff's full booking card, so treat each label as its own clue rather than a complete arrest record. Statuses shift, so jot the time of any check and confirm urgent matters by phone.
| Status information | Meaning and limit |
|---|---|
| County or state custody | The service reports custody status from linked jails and Adult Corrections. |
| Facility or supervising system | Shows the reporting jail, prison, or supervision context when available. |
| Release or transfer | A reported change that can trigger a registered alert. |
| Escape or capture | A critical status change covered by official notification materials. |
| Court-event information | Registration is limited to eligible victims designated by state law. |
| Booking photograph | Not a documented NC SAVAN feature; no mugshot should be expected. |
| Final disposition | Not supplied as a substitute for eCourts or the Clerk’s file. |
Custody status shows where the system places a person. A transfer means movement to another covered facility. Community supervision covers probation or parole oversight outside a jail or prison.
Register Beaufort Custody Alerts
Registration starts from the person's record in the VINELink main interface. A button or follow-up step appears after the search. The FAQ calls registration free and anonymous. Notices can arrive by phone, text, email, or TTY, and one account can hold several phone numbers and email addresses.
- Search for the person and confirm the correct status record.
- Choose custody, release, or transfer alerts offered for that record.
- Select phone, text, email, or TTY and enter the requested contact details.
- Create and retain the four-digit PIN used to manage the registration.
- Confirm the registration and keep its details private.
- Add another contact only through the live system’s additional-contact option.
Court-event alerts work differently. The FAQ restricts them to eligible victims designated under state law. Public custody search alone does not qualify anyone. Choose only the custody-change alerts for ordinary monitoring, and start from the VINELink interface, the official registration entry point.

Buttons and labels can change; follow the live flow.
Beaufort VINELink Alert Timing
The NC SAVAN FAQ spells out its call schedule. Normal phone calls run from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Missed normal calls repeat every two hours for 24 hours within that window. Critical calls for a release, escape, or capture can come at any hour and repeat every 30 minutes for a day. Email arrives any time. It usually lands once per status change.
Timing starts only after a change reaches the service. That means no instant word of a new Beaufort County booking. The agency update must reach SAVAN first. A blocked call, full inbox, or stale contact detail can also swallow a message. Keep the four-digit PIN and its confirmation. Test that contact information stays current, and when safety depends on knowing a release, the FAQ warns against leaning on SAVAN alone; confirm urgent status with the jail.
Note: Notification cadence begins after reported data reaches SAVAN; it is not a guaranteed booking-to-alert service level.
Beaufort VINELink Does Not Cover
The official NC SAVAN FAQ sets clear limits on what the service tracks. Local police holding cells are not part of it. Someone who bonds out at the magistrate and skips booking will not appear. The same goes for juvenile detainees and people held in mental-health facilities. North Carolina federal inmates fall outside its reach too.
Transfers matter for Beaufort County users. A person may transfer between participating jails. That move creates a new record. The FAQ advises registering again for it after any transfer. Keep the fresh confirmation number handy. Federal prisoners belong in the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator instead. ICE custody has its own detainee locator. Neither of those tools works as a Beaufort County jail search. The official FAQ spells out alert mechanics and coverage limits in full.

Those gaps matter. A brand-new Beaufort arrest can lag on SAVAN, so calling the jail directly still makes sense.
Verify Beaufort Custody Changes
For live county custody, start with the sheriff's Detention Center Services page. Its app-only inmate search is the county's own tool. No record there? Move fast. Call the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office at (252) 946-7111 for a straight answer. The detention center sits at 210 N Market Street in Washington. Ask whether the person was booked, released, or moved. Ask whether they were never held in county custody at all. Paperwork runs through the sheriff's Incident Report Request. Give the name, date, location, and report number if you have one. Request a booking record or photograph by name. Fees and turnaround times are not posted. Photo policies for the public app are not listed either. Want to know how a charge ended? Turn to North Carolina eCourts or the Beaufort County court page. Treat a VINE alert as a heads-up, not the final word on timing. The reporting facility can confirm the exact change. Transfers complicate things further. A notice may point to a new system. Meanwhile, pieces of the old jail record can stay behind. Search the new record, then register again if that service asks.
| Need | Correct source |
|---|---|
| Fresh Beaufort booking | Sheriff app, then sheriff phone |
| Later release or transfer notice | NC SAVAN/VINELink registration |
| Official booking document | Sheriff records request |
| Final court outcome | eCourts or Beaufort County Clerk |
| State sentence or supervision | NCDAC offender search |
Each tool answers one question. The sheriff app handles current jail status locally. VINELink adds registration plus statewide notices. eCourts tracks the criminal case itself. Keep those jobs separate, and a release alert never gets confused with a case outcome.
Note: A released person may leave the current jail search while the booking record and court case continue to exist.
