Chocowinity Arrest Record Path
The Chocowinity Police Department handles every report its officers write. Its page posts no arrest roster, no 24-hour feed, no blotter, and no booking photos. What it does offer is unusually concrete. Reports can be picked up in person at Town Hall on weekdays. A published copy charge applies. The 2020 Census counted 722 residents, third most among Beaufort County's incorporated towns. That says nothing about crime. An arrest here leads to the Beaufort County Detention Center. The town runs no jail of its own. It also keeps no detention roster. Confirm any individual transport with the police department or the detention center directly.
Where Chocowinity Arrests Appear
Two official routes answer two different questions. The town report covers the police event, while the sheriff's county custody records cover what happened after booking. News stories and secondary sites follow both, but they never outrank the agency that created the record.
| Channel | Official? | Information | Photo status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chocowinity Police | Yes | Municipal police report | No online policy found |
| Sheriff app | Yes | Current county inmate status | Display not documented |
| County request | Yes | Booking sheet and specific photo request | Custodian decides |
| North Carolina courts | Yes | Case activity and disposition | Not a mugshot feed |
| Local news | No | Selected incidents and cases | May use agency images |
| County aggregators | No | Copied county entries | May be stale |
The sheriff's app tracks county-jail custody only. It leaves out state prison, federal custody, warrants, and the court docket. A third-party photo can linger online long after the underlying records have changed.
Find Someone Arrested in Chocowinity
No town feed can answer a fresh custody question. Start with the official county route, then circle back to the municipal report. Keep the exact name, the approximate time, and the location handy so you don't match the wrong person.
- Visit the sheriff’s Detention Center Services page.
- Use its linked “Inmate Search (App only)” function.
- Read a match as custody status at the time searched.
- Call (252) 946-7111 if intake is recent, the name is absent, or the status is unclear.
- Ask Chocowinity Police whether it made the arrest and which report is available.
- Check the court portal for the filed case and final result.
The app's search fields, refresh delay, photo policy, and record retention are simply not published. A result can lag reality. Intake delays, bond release, transfers, and name misspellings all hide people from view. If the person later enters a North Carolina state prison or supervision, switch to NCDAC. Its search excludes county-jail data.
Note: A current roster result describes custody, while an old police report remains an account of the earlier event.
Chocowinity Police Report Requests
Chocowinity posts the clearest report-copy instructions of any municipality in the county. Reports are picked up at Town Hall, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Each copy costs $6. That fee buys a police report, nothing more. It is not a booking-photo charge and no guarantee a photograph comes attached.

Request the report with the person's name, the date and time, and the location. Include an incident number if you have one. Call first. Confirm the document is ready. Ask whether attachments are included. Ask if any redaction applies. The municipal building sits separately at 3391 Hwy 17-Bus S. Verify the pickup address when you arrange collection. For jail intake, go to the sheriff instead. The official request form seeks an OCA or report number. It also wants the party name, the nature of the event, date, time, location, and your interest. Name the county items you want. That may be a booking sheet, intake and release times, charge text, bond condition, facility status, or booking photograph. The sheriff publishes no photo price and promises no turnaround.
No Chocowinity Arrest Feed
The town website posts no live arrest roster. There is no same-day booking list, no weekly blotter, no mugshot page, and no archive. A report pickup service is not a feed. It answers a specific request with a police report, not an automatically updated custody list. The sheriff's newsroom and press releases tell selected stories, not every Chocowinity booking. The Washington Daily News runs weekly sheriff columns that mix event types from many communities. A Chocowinity address can appear there without anyone being booked. The item may run days after the fact.
Police and Booking Records Differ
That $6 report highlights a distinction people often miss. The town police report comes from the arresting or responding agency. The county booking record is created at detention intake. Both can carry the same name and charge wording. They document different acts at different times. A police report may hold an incident narrative and officer details. A booking sheet may list an inmate identifier, intake time, arresting agency, charges as entered, bond condition, and facility status. Release or transfer notes may appear too. Those are sensible items to request from the sheriff. The app's own text promises only inmate search and up-to-date status, though. A court record is the third source. It shows the filed case and its later path after a Chocowinity arrest.
Chocowinity Arrest Photo Limits
Chocowinity's town pages say nothing about photographs in police reports. The sheriff's side is silent too. So before you ask for an image, find out which office actually holds it. A scene photo, an evidence image, a news photo, and a booking photo are four different records. Each has a different custodian. North Carolina law allows photographs in certain arrest and commitment settings. But that does not mean they go online automatically. Juvenile records stay closed in most cases. Sealed, expunged, and investigative material faces more limits still. Ask the record custodian whether a given image can be released. Do not trust a copy floating around. A mugshot from an arrest years ago tells you nothing about custody today. The court file and the jail's own roster are what establish that.
Official Chocowinity Police Source
The town's own portal is the place to start. The official Chocowinity Police Department page lists the station address, phone number, chief contact, report pickup hours, and the copy fee.

That municipal page exists for report access, plain and simple. Visitors will find no booking photos there and no live jail roster for Chocowinity arrests.
Chocowinity Arrest News Sources
Local news covers Chocowinity arrests unevenly. The Washington Daily News runs weekly sheriff columns. They fold Chocowinity in with Washington, Belhaven, Aurora, Bath, and the unincorporated parts of Beaufort County. A Chocowinity arrest gets printed only when something draws a reporter's eye. Eastern NC Now's Combat Crime section and WITN add occasional county and regional reports. Both lean heavily on agency press releases. Coverage stays selective. Then there are the booking-photo aggregators. BustedNewspaper and RecentlyBooked carry Beaufort County pages, though neither is a Chocowinity-only official feed. A town tag, a photo, or a page count on those sites. Each deserves a second look. Mugshots.com links to the county from its North Carolina index. But the destination page loads unreliably. Arrests.org and Mugshots.zone list no Beaufort County, North Carolina section at all. Watch out for one trap. A Beaufort, South Carolina result belongs to the wrong state entirely. News can tell you why one arrest made headlines. It cannot tell you the full volume of arrests in Beaufort County. Sheriff statistics leave out municipal data from Washington, Belhaven, and Chocowinity. Any trend claim should name the agency behind the number.
After Chocowinity County Booking
After a Chocowinity arrest, county custody runs through the Beaufort County Detention Center. The jail sits in the courthouse basement in Washington. It opened in 1969. It holds 85 beds under direct supervision. A facility listing alone won't show whether any named person is actually in custody there.
For updates, NC SAVAN tracks eligible custody changes across North Carolina jails and Adult Corrections. It is also known as VINELink. It skips police-precinct holds, bond-outs before booking, juvenile and mental-health facilities, and federal custody. Each tool has its own lane. The sheriff app handles county status checks. SAVAN sends supported alerts. eCourts follows the case, and NCDAC covers state correctional status. The Beaufort County booking overview maps these systems. It also covers the official route for requesting a booking photo. Use each one only for its own stage of custody.
